PEROGIE CASSEROLE = A LOVE IN THE BUGIRL HOUSE!

Friday, 29 January 2010 00:00

So this past fall, just when our first tour started my team billeted in the most wonderful city in Southern Mantioba – Winkler!  (That description may be biased as… that is my hometown… haha.)  And so we were doing some events in the area and at our first “billet” (as a team, when we tour we stay with wonderful families that open up their homes to us for the time that we’re in that town or city) my friend Amanda and her family made us the most incredible perogie casserole.  Since then, we shared it with the other team touring when we all came back to the BUG house here in Winnipeg and it’s become a favorite!  So I thought I would share Amanda’s recipe…!  And you girls can try making this at home, it’s super simple and so delicious – your family or friends will LOVE it!

Ingredients…

-          2 sticks of sausage

-          1 kg package of frozen cheese and potato perogies

-          2 cans of cream of mushroom soup (it can be with or without actual mushrooms; I prefer with)

-          2 cans of milk

-          1 to 2 cups of shredded cheese

Directions…

-          Preheat oven for 400 degrees

-          Cook up two sticks of sausage in a frying pan. Then cut into bite size pieces.

-          Place 1 kg of frozen perogies in the bottom of a 9 x 13. Sprinkle cooked sausage on top.

-          Mix 2 cans of cream of mushroom with two cans of milk. Mix in a bowl.

-          Shred cheese (however cheesy you like it. I usually do 1 to 2 cups)

-          Sprinkle cheese on top of sausage and perogies, then pour cream of mushroom mixture over it.

-          Place in oven at 400 for 1 hour. Do not cover.
Enjoy!

You can tell its done when its bubbling deliciously and the cheese is getting golden… YUM!

“Shovel, Hot Chocolate and Quelf Calls For a Great Day”

Thursday, 28 January 2010 00:00

Well the Pajama Team is off on the road again for the weekend. We are going down to North Dakota tomorrow and could not be more excited. This will be the first time we have gone to the states for tour. As for this past week, we as a team have been spending lots of time together running errands and such. Yesterday we were at MBCI (Jessica's old high school) because Jessica was speaking at their chapel. She shared a bit about what we do, what she has learned and in between she sung a couple songs. It was really strange to be back in the high school atmosphere again but also really fun. Jessica gave us a tour and we got to meet all of her teachers and got to hear about of her favourite high school memories. After that, we got back to the bug house and ate some lunch. Just after lunch our friends from church came over to help us shovel. It was a lot of fun and we got the job done! We went in and enjoyed hot chocolate and tea to warm up. A few more friends from church came over and we played Quelf! It was so much fun and was such a good way to get to know people (If you have played it, I am sure you know what I mean hehe.) Anyways, hope you enjoyed hearing about what we do in Winnipeg!
