The Day I Dyed My Hair
Friday, 08 January 2010 00:00
There are two ways to dye your hair. One, plan it out and know exactly what colour you want and when you’re going to do it. Two, spur of the moment.
I opted for number two.
You see, Katelyn, now on the Beach Team, had decided to dye her hair a fabulous shade of rich red which went perfectly with her dark chestnut hair. So, armed with two boxes of ‘dark mahogany 09’, Natalie, Katelyn and I headed to the upstairs bathroom.
We mixed the mix, may or may not have added colour to the counter, and soaked Katelyn’s hair in dye. When it was all said and done we had half a bottle of dye left over. Natalie looked at me with a smile, “Anyone else want to dye their hair?”
I suppose if I was a regular hair dyer it would have been no problem, but the thing was I had never dyed my hair…ever. So somehow I agreed to let Natalie dye the bottom half of my hair ‘dark mahogany 09.’ Thanks to some excellent salon skills on Natalie’s part and a very good colour choice from Katelyn, the bottom half of my head is now slightly darker and slightly redder, and I am quite pleased.
I think this spur of the moment decision is enough excitement for the day. I am content to put my hair in a ponytail as I remind myself that “beauty does not come from outer adornment, but from the inward beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of great worth in God’s eyes.” 1 Peter 3:3-4
