Christmas in Review

Snow, family, shortcake, chocolate, friends…all these things and more made up my Christmas break. I had an amazing time spending 2 weeks with my family in Ontario. It was a swift 14 days, but I tried hard to make every moment count.

It’s only a couple times a year that I get to see my family and those special friends that I grew up with, so without a doubt I was excited to go home for Christmas. Though we’ve already wrapped up our first week back at the office here in Winnipeg, my memories of my time at home haven’t strayed far from my mind.

Christmas this year was special because it was the first Christmas for my niece Olivia. (I’m also a first-time Auntie, which makes it extra-special). Born on August 18, I met this precious wonder just once before I boarded a jet plane to the heartland of Canada. Seeing Olivia for the second time – no longer as a newborn, but as a spunky, animated 4 month old – brought so much joy to my heart. Watching my brother play with his little girl was endearing. Leaving her was hard because I know that they next time I see her again she’ll be walking.

Christmas this year was bittersweet: it was difficult to say goodbye, but there’s so much to look forward to. Another semester at BUgirl remains – one where I hope to go deeper with God, reach new goals, and experience transformation. And at the end…I’ll get to see my sweet little niece once more!

Praying you will be blessed this New Year!
